Sapphire Class (Year 4)
Welcome to Sapphire Class
Miss McLean Mrs Boyd |
In English this half term, we have been looking at setting and character descriptions. In British Science week, the children wrote beautiful descriptions of the moon. We also wrote a description of Franscisco, the brave little Spanish boy in our new book, La Mariposa. Next term we are going to write non chronological reports about different wild animals, such as mice, snake, birds and wolves.
In Maths, we have been working hard to get to grips with fractions. We have been adding and subtracting fractions, along with understanding improper fractions and how to convert them into mixed numbers. We have dedicated a lot of time to fractions and will be looking at them in even more depth during the summer!
In Topic this term we have looked at teeth and healthy eating as well as Elizabethan Explorers'. The children loved learning about the adventures of Sir Francis Drake and his expeditions around the world. We were also very interested by Queen Elizabeth I and her relationship with King Phillip II of Spain, who was married to Elizabeth's sister! A dentist from Bromley Oral Care came to visit us at the end of March and brought lots of fun activities for us to take part in. We now know all the names of our teeth and how to look after them properly.
The highlight of the term has been swimming and forest school on a Wednesday. It was a pleasure getting to see the children grow in confidence in the water. They loved being outdoors and created some wonderful nature creations.
My door is always open! Catch me at the end of the day for a chat if necessary, or call reception to arrange an appointment.
Thank you for your continued support,
Miss McLean
