Extreme Weather Warning
Important information regarding the Met Office Amber Warning for Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th July
Dear parents and carers,
As you may be aware, the Met Office have forecasted extreme temperatures in the South of England on Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th of July. Due to these unprecedented circumstances we have made the decision to allow children to attend on a voluntary basis on these two days only, so that parents can educate their children at home and protect them from the heat. We will be providing classwork on Google Classroom for children to complete at home; please contact your class teacher for your child s login.
School will remain open for those who wish to attend, and the school kitchen will be open as normal to provide lunch. We request that children attending school on Monday and Tuesday are collected at the earlier time of 12:45pm, as this is when the temperature is forecast to reach its peak. Children may wear own clothes. We will have staff remaining on site up until the regular dismissal time of 3:30pm to look after the children of parents who are unable to collect at 12:45pm. Breakfast and After School Club will be running as normal, and are located in an air-conditioned room.
History Immersion Day will be moved to the new academic year.
Please visit https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/heatwave-plan-forengland for advice on keeping children cool during a heatwave.
