PTA Successes
The PTA has supported numerous areas within the school and include both big projects as well as day to day resourcing of FUN equipment etc.
Please see below some of our most recent projects that we have supported:
Every Child Deserves a Christmas - 2020 - 2022
Earlier this year St Mary Cray Primary Academy opened its first ever food bank to help local families that were struggling during the pandemic. We expanded this to ensure that every child that attends our school gets a present to open on Christmas day.
We reached out for local families, businesses and members of the community to donate new and unopened toys/games that we can wrap and pass onto the children.
We were inundated with gifts and donations, and are humbled by the response from parents and businesses local and beyond!
Not only were we able to provide a present to all of our children this Christmas, but we also were able to provide presents to our pre-school siblings and support Bromley and Croydon's Womens Aid.
Children's Hospital Pyjamas - 2020
Autumn Term is a perfect time to wrap up warm in your cosy pyjamas, roll out to bed and join in some fun-draising actitivties! On 20th November you all contributed pyjamas and money helping us provide 80 pairs of pyjamas for the Children's Hospital Pyjamas charity. Such a simple item that we take for granted is so important for children who are away from home and feeling poorly as they receive treatments in hospitals, and pyjamas can bring a bit of relief and comfort to all.
Thank you all for your support for such a good cause this term!
Defibrillator - 2019
The Defibrillator is a life saving piece of equipment that provides our school (pupils, staff and visitors) the security of immediate response to cardiac arrests.
To raise money we held a defibrillator disco and other events such as non-uniform days and cake sales. We raised approximately £600. We were lucky to join forces with the Carly Heart Trust who matched our funds to help us reach our goal quicker.
School Library - 2019
In 2017 a communal library in SMCPA was non-existent. The need for a sacred haven for all of our books was heard by the PTA and they got to work reaching out to the local community for support. Finding volunteers for manual labour and funding the materials, the PTA created the Flamingo and Read beach book hut. This fun place sits in the centre of our school and is available to all.
The PTA will continue to support the school library's re-designs as we create new places for the imagination to be ignited.
